Clements Vs. King -- Duel in the Desert

The shoes are one measure of an aggressive campaign. So, too, are the yard signs -- about 850 of them all around town.

"Curtis King? You're the one with the signs, huh," a woman said recently as she stood in her northwest Yakima doorway as King stopped by to ask for her vote. "Nice to meet you."

King spends a couple of hours every evening meeting people and leaving brochures, hitting all the homes that public records indicate belong to voters. He does this on weekend afternoons, too. He walks fast, sometimes...
