YAKIMA - On December 27, 2007, our dad Cruz Garza Jr., was taken to his heavenly home. Dad was born on September 13, 1926 in Mojarras, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was the fifth of nine children born to Cruz and Modesta Garza Sr. He was raised and educated in Garza- Gonzalez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Dad and his family started working in the southern United States in the early 1950's and came to Washington State in the mid 1950's. Dad met mom in Washington State and they were married on August 18, 1956 at St. Peter Claver Catholic church in Wapato. Dad and mom were married for forty-seven years. Dad was a farm laborer and worked at various ranches until he retired in 1986. Dad was a member of Berea Worship Center for a number of years. One of his favorite things to do was to read his Bible. He also liked to watch television, mainly westerns, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Dad also enjoyed gardening. I don't know why, but as he got older, instead of the garden getting smaller, he thought a bigger garden would be better! Dad had a good work ethic. He wasn't the type of person to wait for a job to fall into his lap. If one job ended, he'd start looking for work right away because he knew he had a family to care for. Dad also helped raise three of his grandchildren, Bethany, Micah, and Michael. Dad always had a ready smile for anyone he came across. We miss you so much already, but know that you're no longer suffering. We know that someday we'll all be together again.See the full content of this document
