It was a hard-fought, issues-oriented campaign and now that it's over the 14th Legislative District will have a new state senator, and it will almost certainly be Yakima businessman Curtis King.

We congratulate King on his well-earned Republican primary win over Sen. Jim Clements on Tuesday. At the same time we applaud Clements, who has represented the district for 13 years and in so doing has set a high standard for public service.
