At the age of two, his family moved to Grandview, WA where he was raised and graduated from Grandview High School with the Class of 1960. His former classmates were an integral part of his life.
He attended Yakima Valley Community College and lived in the Yakima Valley area for several years, marrying Mary Corless of Sunnyside, WA. Daughter Catherine was born in 1965. In 1966, he and his family moved to Seattle, WA, where son Erin was born in 1969. Digger lived in the Seattle area for 37 years working 22 years for Lockheed Shipbuilding until 1987.
