Summary


Fridays at the Yakima Food Bank, the line curls along the edge of the parking lot toward the front door.

Inside, it passes tables, set in a horseshoe shape and laden with boxes of food: containers of tomato sauce, cans of turkey, bags of rice, beans and oatmeal. Then, the line continues out back, down a ramp, past more tables, covered with vegetables and baked goods: tortillas, bread, rolls. "Choose any 3," a paper sign says.
