PALMER, AK - Frederick M. Almandinger died June 10 at home at the age of 62.

He was born on December 13, 1941. He moved to Alaska in 1975 to work on the pipeline at the Tonsina Camp. He and his family moved to Afognak, Alaska in 1977 and then moved to Kodiak, Alaska in 1982. While in Kodiak he worked for Peter Kiewit and Sons as well as Brechan Enterprises. In 1997 he became the shop foreman for Brechan Ent. He retired in 2002 from the Local 302 Operating Engineers after 30 years. He then worked for Wal-Mart in Wasilla, Alaska.
