Summary
Washington state may receive as much as $10 billion from the federal economic stimulus money. In terms of the long-term care budget for Medicaid recipients in nursing homes, the state will save $55 million over last year's costs because of additional federal dollars already allocated. Apparently, that cost savings wasn't enough so the Washington State Legislature cut nursing home Medicaid rates by an additional $5 million this year in SHB 1694, an early "belt-tightening" measure. Those cuts go into effect in the months of April, May and June.
