YAKIMA - Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Helen passed away Friday, October 26th, at Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Helen Emory Ellinger was born October 7, 1920 to James and Ann (Riepma) Emory in Puyallup Washington. The family moved to Whidby Island in 1924 where her father farmed and later moved to Mount Vernon WA where Helen graduated from high school in 1938. Helen graduated from Mary Stone's Beauty School in the spring of 1940 and on July 9, 1941, she married her high school sweetheart, James L. Ellinger, who was attending the University of Washington School of Pharmacy. After graduation Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist mate Petty Officer serving in World War II. After the war they made their home in Lake City where their children attended parochial school where Helen volunteered in the school, church and after school activities. In 1954 they moved to Moses Lake where Jim opened Ellinger's Drug, a new drug store. In 1972 Helen and Jim moved to the Yakima area where they eventually retired.
