Summary
The issue of states' rights got a bit more convoluted last week with a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that seriously ill patients who smoke marijuana to alleviate pain can be prosecuted for violating federal drug laws -- even if their state's law says it's OK.
Clearly, the only way for this controversial, oft-misunderstood issue to be resolved in a fair and equitable manner is for Congress to instruct the federal Food and Drug Administration to approve and regulate the manufacture, distribution and medical use of marijuana.
