YAKIMA, Wash. -- Despite a request by Yakima City Manager Dick Zais for a delay, Yakima County commissioners Tuesday moved to pull out of a three-decades-old regional planning and development agreement with the cities of Yakima and Union Gap.

The 1974 agreement spawned the regional planning commission that deals with comprehensive planning and zoning within the urban area that includes the city and the surrounding unincorporated area.
