This is the time of year when there's plenty to do in the outdoors. If you're a hunter, the spring turkey season is now under way. If you're an angler, plenty of opportunities await you, including this Saturday's opening of Washington's lowland lakes, more generally known as "opening day."

Most of the lakes in our region are open for fishing year-round, but there are some lakes opening in Eastern Washington on Saturday that may provide some decent fishing for anglers who have waited for the traditional opening day.
