ELLENSBURG -- Selah sophomore Shelby Bodine won the 100-yard freestyle and tied for the 50 freestyle and the Vikings edged Pullman for the team title Saturday in the Class 2A regional swimming and diving meet at Central Washington University.

Bodine also contributed to a pair of high-placing relays for Selah, which racked up 3061/2 points to clip Pullman's 303.

"I was shocked. We didn't expect this," said Selah coach Leslie Brown. "We definitely had a lot girls breaking their best times. The teams were highly competitive with great swimmers, but our girls went out and swam well and had fun."

The top three placers in each event qualified for the 2A state meet in Federal Way in two weeks.
