EDITOR'S NOTE: On magazine asked veteran music writer Doug Ramsey (pictured) to write about the musicians in The Seasons' upcoming Fall Side-by-Side Music Festival on Oct. 10-18.
A Yakima resident since 1997, Ramsey is the 2008 winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jazz Journalists Association. His biography, "Take Five: The Public and Private Lives of Paul Desmond," won the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award and the JJA Award for best book in 2005. His most recent book is the 2007 novel "Poodie James." Ramsey is a pro bono adviser to The Seasons, a nonprofit organization.See the full content of this document
