Squalicum Grapplers Get to Hear Bloody Good Cheer

Summary

Q: I hear that cheerleaders at Squalicum High School in Bellingham have an unusual cheer when a wrestling match has to be stopped to treat a bloody nose. What is it?

A: The cheer is the brainchild of cheerleader Darcy Roberts, Class of '03, who saw no reason why the gym should descend into funereal gloom when there was a timeout to stop the bleeding. Cheerleader advisor Jamie O'Brien explained that the chorus is chanted to the cadence of Army marching chants. (If you don't know what that is, go rent "Officer and a Gentleman," "Stripes" or "Private Benjamin.")
