Summary


Initiatives 330 and 336 have prompted the most spirited charge- and counter-charge campaigning in recent years, but one thing supporters of both can agree on: The Legislature has abdicated its responsibility by not addressing medical liability reform issues.

We couldn't agree more. The issues are so complicated and far- reaching that they should not be decided by dueling initiatives in blitz campaigns that overwhelm and further confuse voters. Medical malpractice reform should have been handled by lawmakers in the legislative arena, subjected to the give-and-take of debate and compromise such a critical issue demands.
