SELAH - William H. Brown died peacefully, on a warm spring morning on May 2nd 2008 in Selah, Washington. Born March 23, 1923 in Harlowton, Montana to William H. and Nellie D. Brown, Bill was the youngest of five children who moved and later were raised in Selah. Bill graduated from Selah High School where he played baseball and basketball and was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Bill heard the call of his country and joined the Navy during WWII where he was a radioman and airplane mechanic aboard numerous aircraft carriers in the South Pacific campaign. Bill much enjoyed what the Navy had taught him and it started him down the path of a lifetime in aeronautical mechanics and machinery. A career helicopter mechanic, Bill was one of the first in service department at the Yakima airport where he worked for many years. He later worked with Bell Helicopter, servicing the Royal Iranian Air force and various other countries, contracting work and meeting new friends. In the 1950 and '60's, Bill's work also sent him to rural Canadian wilderness areas and summers in the Alaskan arctic, where numerous adventures served for many fascinating stories.See the full content of this document
